I am seeking sponsorship for a Barcamp event and hope that your organisation might like to contribute in some way.
I am helping to organise an Unconference (a.k.a Barcamp) on the 25th and 26th of April in Wellington. This Barcamp has three streams of focus: Mobile development, Internet Identity and Distributed Social Networks.
We are expecting anywhere from 50 to 80 leading edge thinkers and doers will be attending this event. More details can be found on the organising wiki:
Internet Identity: http://www.barcamp.org.nz/internet-identity
Mobile: http://www.barcamp.org.nz/mobile
If you are unfamiliar with the ideas of an Unconference then more information can be found at http://www.barcamp.org.nz/internet-identity/what-barcamp Barcamps are unconferences organised by a community of interested individuals and participated by those same individuals. Instead of providing a predetermined schedule the participants construct the schedule; typically on the day. The event starts with an introduction by the organisers articulating the purpose of the event, the guidelines for conduct during the day and any parameters such as session lengths. They are events for individuals who are passionate in their area of interest and as a result make things happen at a grassroots level. Organisations can be part of these events by helping to sponsor them in some way:
Direct sponsorship
Direct sponsorship starts at just $250 but don't be restricted by this, it can be more. Operating Barcamps on a limited budget is an intricate part of the concept. We use our energy to innovate not to raise funds. However, some operating costs are unavoidable.
In Kind Sponsorship
The creativity never stops at a Barcamp, but coffee, and food are needed to fuel that constant creativity. T-Shirts are needed to keep our super-hip geek credentials intact. If there is a service that you feel your company can offer us, the please do so. Take for example The State Services Commision is providing the Venue, and Oracle NZ are providing pizza for lunches.
Your Value in return:
1. All sponsors will be acknowledged, along with their contribution and site link on the Barcamp.org.nz (and other related sites). If branding is provided by the sponsor this will feature also. The details of the Barcamp remain indefinitely on the Web to provide an anchor point for blog posts and other mentions of the Barcamps.
2. Wherever possible sponsor's support will be acknowledged in any correspondence (emails) with the wider community.
3. At the Event (Introduction and at the Summary): sponsors will be explicitly acknowledged and Sponsor's branding will be displayed.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
